Method

How these numbers are produced, so every figure can be checked.

Sample. Every job that is open on PickedJobs at the time shown above. Jobs are fetched from company career pages (Greenhouse, Lever and Ashby job boards), reviewed, and removed when the employer closes them. The sample is not a random survey of the whole market: it covers the companies PickedJobs tracks, which skew towards software companies hiring engineering, product, design, data, developer relations and solutions roles.

Classification. Category, specialty, seniority, work arrangement, hiring regions, technologies and visa sponsorship are read from the listing text. Each job counts once per hiring region and once per technology it names, so those shares can exceed 100%.

Salaries. Pay figures use only listings that state a yearly salary in US dollars. A range counts as its midpoint. Figures below $20,000 or above $2,000,000 are excluded as parsing errors. Groups with fewer than 20 listings are not shown. Equity, bonuses and benefits are not included.

Dates. Posting dates come from the employer where given, otherwise from the day the job went live on PickedJobs. Listings that went live or closed in the last 30 days are counted from PickedJobs' own change log.

Refresh. The page recomputes at most once an hour. The URL is permanent; numbers change as jobs open and close. The same data is available as JSON.
