How to convert salary to hourly pay
Divide your yearly salary by the number of hours you work in a year. A full-time job at 40 hours a week for 52 weeks is 2,080 hours, so:
hourly rate = yearly salary ÷ (hours per week × weeks per year)
To go the other way, multiply your hourly rate by the same number of hours. A quick rule of thumb: double the hourly rate and add three zeros. $25 an hour is roughly $50,000 a year (exactly $52,000).

What changes the result
- Unpaid time off. If you are paid only for weeks you work, lower the weeks per year. Paid vacation and holidays keep it at 52.
- Overtime. Salaried roles often expect more than 40 hours. At 50 hours a week, the same salary is worth 20% less per hour.
- Contract work. Contract rates need to cover benefits, extra taxes and unbilled time; use the contractor vs employee calculator to compare fairly.
